Monster Math Fun!
It’s that time of year… where all of the fun fall activities and fall themes appear in the classroom!
October is one of my favorite months in the classroom- from leaves to pumpkins to spooky friends and more. You can easily create engagement with almost anything in your instruction with these fun themes.
Monster Math is here to support your early math learners with some engaging monster-themed number recognition and early addition skills. Both skills are included so you have a variety of activities to support multiple levels of learners in your classroom.

Did I mention you can incorporate a little fine motor fun into these activities?!?!
The number recognition monsters include templates 1-10 – however you can easily differentiate by only providing students with specific numbers like 1-5, 6-10, or specific numbers from data 🙂
I simply super-glued googly eyes onto smaller clothespins for fine motor support – but you can easily just provide plain googly eyes for students to count and represent the given number!

Want to differentiate with this activity? You can easily have students represent one more/one less on their monster 🙂
Need something a little more advanced? Many kindergarten curriculums are working with addition soon – and these little addition monsters will be perfect to include in your activities and/or stations!

Students will still use their fun googly eyes to help solve the addition number sentences in a hands-on way 🙂
A recording sheet is included for this activity to support accountability. Students will select a monster, add the eyes to solve, then write their sum/answer to the corresponding problem on their recording sheet – then color the monster to indicate that problem is complete!

You again can choose either the fine-motor support with the clothespins or simply provide googly eyes to support hands-on solving.
